Well, the design is rather good, its the pixelation and the navigation that spoils it, well, at least in my opinion. If you where to make the navbar square to the page rather than at an angle it may become more legible. And probably another thing, yet again my tastes in design, the central part where the main page information is displayed does seem a little thin if you was to fatten it ever so slightly, say by around 50-80px it might just help.

Hope this has been useful.

Another thing as well, concidering one of the key parts to your website is your skinning, you can always incorperate some rendered images into the design as well.

This is just some things I think you should improve on.
1. the screens and navigation don't look like metal, it's way too dark.
2. the wires all bend to the same direction.
3. The font on the navigation is really blurry, try to pixilate it before you transform it.

The color theme looks good though.

True the menu does need a revamp, it was one of a few ways i decided to do it, still looking at others right now.

Im still toying as to if i need to make the width bigger simply because everything fits nicely at the moment. And always fits on a 800 width monitor.

It looks good, and the menu looks great until u get a closer look... The writing is hard to read... and i like the colors.. but the black metal stuff on the left looks a bit fishy... Maybe if u added a bit of rust? Ionno.. stains? Ionno... and the alien face looks a bit sharp around the edges..
overall it looks really nice tho. ^.^

overall, I like the style. Everything should be connected tho, to fallow the futuristic/sci fi alien theme. Just having it run off into nothingness is lame.

fix the horid text on the nav, its pixelated and disugsting.

the alien logo needs to be gausen blurred to fix the pixelated edge.

the "latest" "in progress" and "featured" needs to have a better design rather then just a block, keep the theme up throughout the entire site.

content boxes have weird edges, give the layers a glow so you cant see that.

give the blue "LCD monitor" looking thing and the circular screens background some contrast, the plasma effect looks dull and flat.

you asked for what to make it better, and IMO the above mentioned will. Hope that helps. If not dont mind me, those are just my opinions.

try 2 brush your interface and dont use so many bevel :p u can do that also by ur own hand ;)

u dont need wacom or something , all is possible with mouse , just zoom 1000 percent times in and move slowly and make cool shadows and highlights. U might also work on the circrle with the alien in it , it needs more detail imo.

keep up the good work !
